Nina T When I first heard mmm and Emerson's version of the classic Ama no Jaku, I remember going out for a smoke and telling Emerson that I didn't quite like how he made the song sound kind of upbeat.(Sorry for that?)
I was always drawn in by the melancholic guitar in mmm's earlier albums, but this is by no means a downgrade. It sounds complete - melancholic in its own way. I realize that now.
I hope you two collaborate lots and lots in the future. This is a masterpiece.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
